5 Social Media Newsletters You Should Subscribe to in 2022

Christina Sirabella

Happy 2022! If your New Year’s resolution is to start staying on top of industry news and learn more about social media, you’re in the right place.

We’ve compiled a list of the best social media newsletters you should be subscribed to this year. They’ll not only curate the industry news and trending topics you need to know, but they’ll give you tips and strategies when it comes to planning your social media content as well.

1. Geekout

At the top of our list is Geekout by Matt Navarra. Navarra is a UK-based social media consultant with over 15 years of industry experience, and it certainly shows in this newsletter. In addition to all of the news and feature updates you could ever want, it includes a chart of the week, thought of the week, and even a meme of the week.

2. The Daily Carnage

This newsletter is sent out daily (as you may have guessed from the name) by Carney, a dynamic digital agency based in Pittsburgh that wants to help you be “the sharpest marketer in the room.” It’s got a more manageable amount of news, and it also shares examples of great social media campaigns and content—including a section called “Ads from the Past” for some nostalgia.

3. Buffer

Buffer is a social media toolkit for small businesses that helps you plan and schedule social media campaigns. Its newsletter is full of all the latest social media news from Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook, and more, plus the newest tools and trends. There’s even a section called “App of the Week” so you’ll never be the last one to download the cool new social network that everyone’s talking about.

With The Weekly Forekast, you’ll be emailed every Monday with the events that are going to be trending in the week ahead—everything from National Pizza Day to the Consumer Electronics Show to the next solar eclipse. This way, you’ll never miss the opportunity for your brand to hop on a trending moment.

5. #TBT

Yes, yes—we had to include some self-promotion in here. (We wouldn’t be marketers if we didn’t!) Each Thursday morning, we send out a short and sweet newsletter called #TBT that includes the most important social media news and updates from the week. In addition, you’ll get our expert POVs on industry trends as well as examples of amazing social content for inspiration.
